Slider is the official mascot of the Cleveland Indians. It has been more than a decade that the Indians are the member of the American League. The Cleveland Indians play at Jacobs Field, which was constructed in 1993. The stadium is named after the Jacobs family who bought the Indians in 1986.

Slider is a big purple colored hairy giant with yellow spots and eyebrows. It has been assumed that he has been name after slider, a baseball pitch. It is a kind of intermediate action of ball a curveball and a fastball, with less break but more speed than the curve. It tends to drop less and move toward or away from the batter more than a curve. It can even deceive the hitter making him think it to be a fastball. But the time he realizes it is too late for him. Some pitchers also use a cut fastball which is somewhat like the slider. It is a range between fastballs and curves. A pitch that has movement similar to both a slider and a curveball is sometimes called a slurve. The progress of slider helps the hitters to gain supremacy over the hitters and is also sometimes called "the great equalizer." Despite of an advantage, the slider causes great stress and wear on a pitcher's arm.

Slider is one of the best mascots around and rarely gets on nerves unlike almost all others. His antics like sticking his furry nose in little kids' faces and pulling his shirt over a person's head are really endearing. In July, Slider celebrated his 13th Birthday. In 2003, Slider with his friends, the Pirate Parrot, the Mariner Moose and the Phillie Phanatic had a Christmas in July. Santa Slider drove around the field throwing hot dogs to Christmas music. The same season Slider fell six feet off of an outfield wall, and tore a ligament in his knee.

Slider joined CEO David Abbott and a local sports anchor during a recent television shoot at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Slider is cool and continues to get better with every year. On August 14th of 2004 Westlake Christian Church hosted the first annual Gathering in the Son, a FREE community summer festival. The event featured appearance from Slider, the Cleveland Indians official mascot, Moon Dog, the Cleveland Caveliers official mascot etc.

Slider is available for anniversaries, corporate picnics & events, private parties, family reunions, birthdays, festivals & carnivals, charitable & fund-raising events, grand openings, commercial events, parades, schools & church socials and wedding receptions to make your special occasion  a GRAND SLAM event.
